Pueblo Mourns the Death of 21-Year-Old Eric Torres After Second Early-Morning Shooting Marks City’s 12th Homicide of the Year
PUEBLO, Colo. (November 1, 2025) — Heartbreak and disbelief have once again gripped the Pueblo community after yet another act of gun violence claimed a young life early Saturday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as 21-year-old Eric Torres, who was killed in a shooting that occurred just minutes after a separate homicide — marking the city’s 12th homicide of the year and the second fatal shooting of the morning.
According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the early hours of Saturday near the east side of the city. When they arrived, they discovered Torres suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders and emergency medical personnel, Torres was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police confirmed that this incident unfolded only minutes after another deadly shooting across town, leaving residents shaken and fearful. Investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are related or separate acts of violence that occurred in quick succession. As of Saturday afternoon, no arrests had been announced, and detectives were actively interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage.
“This is a devastating situation for our community,” said a Pueblo Police spokesperson in a press release. “Two young lives lost within minutes of each other — it’s something no city should have to experience. Our department is working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”
The news of Eric Torres’ death has sent waves of sorrow through the Pueblo community. Family and friends describe him as a kind, hardworking, and vibrant young man who had so much life ahead of him. “Eric was full of energy, always smiling, always helping others,” one friend shared. “He was loved by everyone who knew him, and it hurts to know he’s gone.”
Neighbors near the scene of the shooting expressed both fear and sadness as crime scene tape lined the street. Many said the growing number of violent incidents in Pueblo has left them feeling anxious and heartbroken. “It’s becoming too common,” said a local resident. “We shouldn’t have to wake up to another young person’s life being taken. Eric deserved so much better.”
As investigators work through the details, Pueblo Police have urged anyone with information about the shootings to contact their Crimes Against Persons Section or to reach out anonymously through Pueblo Crime Stoppers at (719) 542-STOP.
Community leaders and clergy members have also called for unity and peace, encouraging residents to come together to support grieving families and stand against the violence that has shaken the city. Plans are underway for a candlelight vigil to honor Eric Torres’ life and to remember others who have lost their lives to violence in 2025.
This latest tragedy marks a somber moment for Pueblo — a city that continues to grapple with the heartbreak of losing its young residents to senseless acts of violence. While the investigation continues, the pain remains raw for those who loved Eric Torres, a son, brother, and friend whose life was cut short far too soon.
