According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the tragedy occurred around 12:55 p.m. as a Ford F-150 traveled east on NC 108 near Farm Lane. The truck ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree, and caught fire. Brian and Ellis, the driver and passenger, were trapped inside and lost their lives as a result of the crash.
