IN LOVING MEMORY: REMEMBERING AIDAN ROY DENNY — TRAGIC COLLISION ON HWY .104 CLAIMS YOUND LIFE
ANTIGONISH COUNTY, NS — A wave of heartbreak has swept through Antigonish County after a devastating collision on Highway 104 late Friday night claimed the life of Aidan Roy Denny, a beloved young child whose bright future was tragically cut short. The Antigonish County District RCMP confirmed that several others were also injured in the crash, which occurred near Dagger Woods Road and Pomquet Monks Head Road.
According to RCMP investigators, emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 11 p.m. following reports of a serious multi-vehicle collision. When first responders arrived, they found multiple victims trapped inside the wreckage. Despite the tireless efforts of paramedics and firefighters, young Aidan was pronounced dead at the scene. Several others were transported to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Preliminary findings suggest that two vehicles were involved in the collision, though the exact cause remains under investigation. RCMP officers, along with collision reconstruction specialists, remained on the scene for several hours overnight, carefully examining evidence to determine what led to the tragic event. The section of Highway 104 near the crash site was closed for an extended period but has since reopened.
“This is an incredibly tragic incident that has deeply affected our community,” said RCMP Sgt. Mark Sutherland. “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the child who lost his life. No words can ease their pain, but we want them to know that we are doing everything possible to find answers.”
News of Aidan Roy Denny’s passing has left the Antigonish and Pomquet communities reeling. Friends, neighbors, and classmates have described him as a joyful, bright, and compassionate child whose smile could light up any room. “Aidan was such a sweet soul,” said one family friend. “He loved to laugh, he loved to play, and he made everyone around him feel special. This loss is unimaginable.”
Grief has rippled through local schools and community groups, where support services and counselors have been made available to help those struggling to process the tragedy. Vigils and memorials are already being organized to celebrate Aidan’s life and provide comfort to his grieving family.
Local officials and community leaders have also expressed their sorrow, emphasizing the importance of road safety and mindfulness while driving. “Every time we lose a child on our roads, it shatters an entire community,” said one Antigonish County councillor. “Our hearts are broken for this family. We must come together in love and compassion to support them through this unimaginable time.”
As the RCMP continues its investigation, they are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the area around 10:30–11:00 p.m. Friday night to contact the Antigonish County District RCMP at 902-863-6500.
For now, Antigonish County grieves the loss of a young life gone far too soon — a child remembered for his laughter, his light, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. Though words fall short in moments like this, the love and unity of the community stand as a testament to the impact Aidan Roy Denny had in his short but beautiful life.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days, as family, friends, and neighbors prepare to say their final goodbyes to a child who will forever remain in their hearts.
